This book is about the life of a systemiser who discovered his neurotype and ancestry during his early fifties. Each chapter includes examples of systemisation. This story is about a family at war with itself, historically plagued by poverty, intellectual disorders, mental illness and blindness, desperately trying to present an image of conventional success. Another branch in the same family tree leads to the puritanical Shearer family who were friends of Darwin, inspiring heirs to deny their neurological conditions in favour of supporting the eugenics movement. Finally an heir known as ‘the dormouse’ (due to his obedience and shyness) finds a solution to the family problems after being humiliated terribly by his father and elder sister for being an idiot due to his learning difficulties. The dormouse executed his plan to marry a sad only-child from a wealthy family after eventually bagging an Irish university degree. His father rewarded him with gold and sports cars, but these gifts were conditional upon his obedience. So, the dormouse followed his father’s orders and became a dentist. The dormouse became more confident as he amassed wealth. But there was something missing in his life - he yearned to be a Baronet. So, the dormouse bribed an offshore genealogist to alter his family ancestry so he could claim to be related to Sir James Wylie enabling him to use the title of Baronet. The dormouse-turned-baronet was well aware of his family’s genetic issues but kept them secret from his son, who he unleashed all of his bitterness towards. Meanwhile the pseudo Baronet actively followed the British Eugenics Movement, Darwinism while worshipping his great grandfather, Doctor George Shearer, physician, missionary, botanist … and friend of Charles Darwin. This is a story about psychological abuse, narcissism (malignant self-love) and delusions, and ‘will to power’ against an innocent free-minded individual called Philip Wylie who finally discovered the family secrets when he was 53 years old. Philip Wylie systemised his own life and created the developmental model for late diagnosis of Aspergers known as The Nine Degrees of Autism - this is systemiser Philip Wylie’s legacy.
