Del libro: Aunque puede haber diferentes opiniones entre los eruditos en cuanto a los comienzos y finales exactos de los cinco discursos de Mateo, se los puede dividir de esta manera: (1) el Sermón de la Montaña, Mt 5:1-7:28a; (2) autoridad apostólica y martirio, Mt 9:35-11:1; (3) las parábolas, Mt 12:46-13:53; (4) casuística, o resolución de problemas inherentes en la práctica de la iglesia, Mt (17:22) 18:1-19:1; y (5) los tiempos postreros, Mt 23:1-26:1. Estas divisiones están determinadas por sus puntos finales similares. –“Cuando Jesús acabó de decir estas cosas”– lo que las hace aparecer como un conjunto de alocuciones que desembocan en el “mandato” con que concluye el Evangelio: “enseñándoles a obedecer todo lo que les he mandado a ustedes” (28:20). Cada discurso es una unidad con su contenido propio, pero el sentido de cada uno guarda una clara relación con los demás, como así tambien su dependencia de los demás. Ningún discurso individual puede entenderse como cerrado en sí mismo sin peligro de caer en interpretaciones erróneas.From this book: Although scholars may differ on the precise beginnings and endings of Matthew's Five Discourses, they can be divided in this way: (1) the Sermon on the Mount, Matt 5:1–7:28a; (2) apostolic authority and martyrdom, Matt 9:35–11:1; (3) the parables, Matt 12:46–13:53; (4) casuistry, or resolving incidental matters of church practice, Matt [17:22] 18:1–19:1; and (5) the end times, Matt 23:1–26:1. These divisions are determined by their similar conclusions— "When Jesus had finished"—and are brought together by the Gospel's conclusion: "teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you" (28:20). Each discourse is a self-contained unit, but the meaning of each is related to and dependent on the others. No single discourse can be understood by itself without the possibility of misinterpretation.
